Yale University is a private Ivy League research university in New Heaven, Connecticut. Founded in 1701 as the Collegiate School, it is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and among the most prestigious in the world. the Collegiate School was established in 1701 by clergy to educate Congregational ministers before moving to New Haven in 1716. Originally restricted to theology and sacred languages, the curriculum began to incorporate humanities and sciences by the time of the American Revolution. In the 19th century, the college expanded into graduate and professional instruction, awarding the first PhD in the United States in 1861 and organizing as a university in 1887. Yale's faculty and student populations grew after 1890 with rapid expansion of the physical campus and scientific research.

Yale is organized into fourteen constituent schools: the original undergraduate collage, the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and twelve professional schools.

There are three critical numbers when considering your admissions chances: SAT scores, GPA, and acceptance rate. All these combine to tell you what you scores are required to get into Yale University. The 25th percentile New SAT score is 1470, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1560.In other words, a 1470 places you below average, while a 1560 will move you up to above average.

 The average GPA at Yale is 4.14. This makes Yale Extremely Competitive for GPAs. If you're a junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change from this point on. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 4.14, you'll need a higher SAT score to compensate and show that you're prepared to take on college academics.

The acceptance rate at Yale is 6.1%. In other words, of 100 students who apply, only 6 are admitted.
