ABOUT

The University of Chicago (UChicago) is private research university in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1890, its main campus is located in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. The University of Chicago is consistently ranked among the best universities in the world and it is among the most selective in the United States. The university is composed of an undergraduate collage and five graduate research divisions, which contain all of the university's graduate programs and interdisciplinary committees. Chicago has eight professional schools: the Law School, the Booth school of Business, the Pritzker School of Medicine, the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, the Harris school of Public Policy, the Divinity School, the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies, and the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. The university has additional campuses and centers London, Paris, Beijing, Delhi and Hong Kong, as well as in downtown Chicago.

 PROGRAMMS 

The College of the University of Chicago grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 51 academic majors and 33 minors. The college's academics are divided into five divisions: the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division, the Physical Sciences Collegiate Division, the Social Sciences Collegiate Division, the Humanities Collegiate Division, and the New Collegiate Division. The first four are sections within their corresponding graduate divisions, while the New Collegiate Division administers interdisciplinary majors and studies which do not fit in one of the other four divisions.  The university graduate schools and committees are divided into five divisions: Biological Sciences, Humanities, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Institute for Molecular Engineering. In the autumn quarter of 2015, the university enrolled 3,588 graduate students: 438 in the Biological Sciences Division, 801 in the Humanities Division, 1,102 in the Physical Sciences Division, 1,165 in the Social Sciences Division, and 52 in the Institute for Molecular Engineering.

APPLICATION

 There are three critical numbers when considering your admissions chances: SAT scores, GPA, and acceptance rate. All these combine to tell you what you scores are required to get into University of Chicago. 

The 25th percentile New SAT score is 1470, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1570.In other words, a 1470 places you below average, while a 1570 will move you up to above average. There's no absolute SAT requirement at University of Chicago. 

The average GPA at University of Chicago is 4.48. This makes University of Chicago Extremely Competitive for GPAs. If you're a junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change from this point on. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 4.48, you'll need a higher SAT score to compensate and show that you're prepared to take on college academics.

 The acceptance rate at University of Chicago is 7.3%. In other words, of 100 students who apply, only 7 are admitted. To be safe, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1570 SAT and a 4.48 GPA or higher to be above average.

 University of Chicago’s tuition is $60,963. Compared with the national average cost of tuition of $41,281, University of Chicago is more expensive. At University of Chicago, the total cost is $80,277. The net price is the average cost of the university after aid and scholarship funds are discounted from the total cost (the sticker price, plus the cost of room and board, books and supplies, and transportation and personal expenses), which comes in at $26,094 for the average student receiving need-based aid.
