ABOUT 

    The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley, Berkeley, Cal, or California) is a public land-grant research university in Berkeley, California. Established in 1868 as the University of California, it is the state's first land-grant university and the first campus of the University of California system. Its fourteen colleges and schools offer over 350 degree programs and enroll some 31,000 undergraduate and 12,000 graduate students. Berkeley is ranked among the world's top universities.  A founding member of the Association of American University, Berkeley hosts many leading research institutes, including the Mathematical Science Research Institute and the Space Science Laboratory. It founded and maintains close relationships with three national laboratories at Berkeley, Livermore and Los Alamos, and has played a prominent role in many scientific advances.

 PROGRAMS

 The four-year, full-time undergraduate program offers 107 bachelor's degrees across the Haas School of Business (1), College of Chemistry (5), College of Engineering (20), College of Environmental Design (4), College of Letters and Science (67), Rausser College of Natural Resources (10), and individual majors (2). The most popular majors are Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Political Science, Molecular and Cell Biology, Environmental Science, and Economics. Berkeley has a "comprehensive" graduate program, with high coexistence with the programs offered to undergraduates, and offers interdisciplinary graduate programs with the medical schools at UCSF (various masters and doctoral) and Stanford (MD/MPH). The university offers Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Fine Arts, and PhD degrees in addition to professional degrees such as the Juris Doctor, Master of Business Administration, Master of Business and Master of Design. 

APPLICATION 

  The acceptance rate at UC Berkeley is 14.8%. For every 100 applicants, only 15 are admitted. This means the school is extremely selective. Meeting their GPA requirements and SAT/ACT requirements is very important to getting past their first round of filters and proving your academic preparation. With a GPA of 3.89, UC Berkeley requires you to be near the top of your class, and well above average. If you're currently a junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change in time for college applications. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.89, you'll need a higher SAT or ACT score to compensate. The 25th percentile New SAT score is 1300, and the 75th percentile New SAT score is 1530. In other words, a 1300 on the New SAT places you below average, while a 1530 will move you up to above average. The average ACT score at UC Berkeley is 31. This score makes UC Berkeley Strongly Competitive for ACT scores.

 TUITION FEES 

The 2022 graduate school tuition & fees are $14,160 for California residents and $29,262 for others. 59% of enrolled undergraduate students have received grants or scholarship aid and the average grant amount is $19,359. After receiving the financial aid, the net price is $22,114 for California residents and $51,868 for out-of-state students including tuition, fees, books & supplies costs, and living costs. The tuition and fees are higher than the average amount of similar schools' tuition ($32,661 - Public Research University (very high research activity)) based on out-of-state tuition rate.
